On September 30, 2009, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 hit the southern coast of Indonesia. Homes crumbled and villages were swallowed up by accompanying landslides. As villagers pressed forward in grief and despair to rebuild their homes, Leading The Way Navigators arrived in Indonesia.
The Navigators, rugged solar-powered mp3 audio players loaded with Biblical teachings that share the hope of Jesus Christ, were hand delivered to victims of this recent earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia.
When Leading The Way shipped the players, we had no way of knowing the immediate and desperate need of those who would receive them. However, God did and He ordered our steps. The Navigator is filled with Dr. Youssef's Biblical teachings on the promises of God for a hope and a future. The design of the Navigator allows them to be played in the worst situations possible — areas with no radio signal, electricity, or batteries. All that is needed is direct sunlight and the players are ready to share the Word of God with its recipients.
Some Navigators were given to local pastors who have used them in their churches. Their one wish is that they could amplify the sound so that more people could hear the preaching of God's Word. One man who received a Navigator commented:
"I want to thank you for the Navigator. It came to me at the right time. When the earthquake hit my city, I lost hope and was very discouraged. After listening to Michael Youssef's teaching, my faith is getting stronger. I asked my leader to use this teaching for home church meeting so that our people will get encouragement in the midst of crisis. I wish I could give a Navigator mp3 to every pastor in Padang West Sumatra."
Another man shared:
"We distributed the Navigator mp3 to East Timorese Refugees. Many of them are living in a refugee camp with no electricity. We are very grateful for the mp3. The teaching is very easy to understand and very Biblical. Many of them never heard such teaching from the Bible like what it is told by Dr. Michael Youssef. The only problem is the volume setting. It will be great if the sound can be better so that the whole family can listen together. Thank you very much for the gift."
Will you join us in prayer for those who received the Leading The Way Navigators in Indonesia — the largest Muslim country in the world?
Leading The Way's Navigator also has incredible potential as a tool to reach the lost and equip believers in countries closed to the Gospel. It is a portable ministry device that does not depend on an outside frequency. When asked about its role in Leading The Way's dual-language media ministry, International Director Jonathan Youssef said:
"As I look at our Leading The Way world map and consider all of the languages and countries we broadcast in, I cannot help but think of the amazing possibilities the Leading The Way Navigator has in each and every one of those countries. It is hard for me to decide which languages need to be produced next because I want to produce thousands of these devices in all of the languages we broadcast in. My prayer is that our supporters would understand what a tremendous and unique opportunity we have to evangelize the unbeliever and strengthen those who have accepted salvation through these amazing little devices."
In early 2010, we will ship 100 Leading The Way Mandarin-English Navigators to China where they will be distributed to people through local radio stations. An additional 50 players will be sent to a prison ministry in Zambia. Audio is also being processed in Amharic for future distribution of Leading The Way Navigators in Ethiopia.
The potential for the Leading The Way's Navigator is endless and we look forward to reports of God's work in and through these players in 2010 and beyond. Please join us in praying for the safe delivery of the Navigators and for the salvation and encouragement of those who receive them.
