While it may be hard for many of us to believe, there are countless individuals around the world who have never heard the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. To compound this problem, in some countries, it is illegal to talk about Jesus or distribute the Bible making it very difficult to share the Good News about our Savior. As Leading The Way has discovered, there is one powerful method of reaching the masses who are cut off from the message of Jesus Christ. Through our dual-language radio and internet efforts we have seen many unbelievers come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The history of this unique effort started in April 1996 when Dr. Michael Youssef, founder and president of Leading The Way, began recording and producing a sentence-by-sentence dual-language English-Arabic broadcast for the Middle East and North Africa. The critics said that a dual-language audio program would fail and that it was highly unlikely that listeners would sit still for a thirty minute program containing two languages.

The critics were proved wrong when the radio program began receiving mail and testimonies from an unprecedented number of listeners. Letters like this one from Algeria began to pour in.

"Recently, I discovered your broadcast in both English and Arabic languages. In the beginning it drew my attention because of the simultaneous, correct translation. Also the logic of what you were saying seemed to address me in a direct way. I doubt there is one New Testament within my district, which includes around 60,000 people, because they are all Muslims, and they are not interested. But I believe Jesus exists. I hope I am not asking for too much by requesting a New Testament Bible. I want to feel the action and the truth of God after reading it.”

The success of our program in the Middle East and North Africa led to the creation of a dual-language English-Mandarin program which airs in China. Soon after our first airing we began receiving letters of encouragement from Chinese nationals who were being blessed as a result of our unique radio program. The following letter arrived from a University student in the Heilongjiang province of China.

“I listen to your program frequently and I feel that it is very beneficial. One is able to learn about the Gospel, as well as benefit from the English language teachings… There is something I want to let you know; what you are doing for God now is very important and valuable. Many people have been deeply touched after listening to your programs! I will spread the good news to as many people as I can.”

Since the creation of the English-Mandarin program, Leading The Way has introduced the dynamic dual-language concept into more languages, including Indonesian, Turkish, Punjabi, Russian, Farsi, French, Hindi, Bengali, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Amharic, Tamil, Albanian, Thai, Portuguese, and Sorani.
