Radio (Dual Language Program) - Bengali

Leading The Way's dual-language broadcasts feature Michael Youssef's Gospel messages in English, which are translated phrase by phrase into one of 20 languages reaching some 115 countries. Many listeners tune in to learn English — and, as a result, hear the Gospel.

Leading The Way has been airing an English-Bengali dual-language program since August 20, 2004. More than 230 million speak Bengali, which is one of the top 10 most widely spoken languages in the world. It is the official language of Bangladesh and is also spoken in the Indian states of Tripura and West Bengal.

One of the top 10 most widely spoken languages in the world, Bengali is the official language of Bangladesh and is also spoken in the Indian states of Tripura and West Bengal. More than 230 million people speak Bengali, which is the second most commonly spoken language in India — after Hindi.

"Bengali people are by far the largest unreached people group in the world with a global total of over 230 million ...," an Operation World report states. "It was to the Bengali that William Carey went as a missionary. Although they revere Carey's memory, the great breakthrough has still not come after 200 years. Now could be the time for the Bengali people!"

The report also states that Christian audio and video materials are important because a high proportion of the population — more than 50 percent — is illiterate.

Broadcasting its English-Bengali program since 2004, Leading The Way's programs target the country of Bangladesh as well as Tripura in India. These broadcasts are being used by God to reach countless individuals — like this man in Bangladesh:

"I like listening to the radio," the Leading The Way listener wrote. "One day, I happened to hear this program. You were saying about the way to heaven through Jesus. I had never heard this before. I always thought that knowing about God is not so easy, but your program made it seem so easy in reaching God through Christ. This life of Christ has attracted me and inspired me to know about salvation."

A Leading The Way ministry partner in Bangladesh reports that this man accepted Christ as his personal Savior and, as a result, has been driven from his home. "He needs our earnest prayers, as he is going through many troubles," the partner reports. "Pray that he may stand firm in faith and also study well."

Also, please pray that God will continue to use Leading The Way's English-Bengali dual-language broadcasts to reach the Bengali people for Christ.
